Eighth grade computers is a 6 week cycle that meets 5 times a week.  Students will continue to improve typing skills by using Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing and an Internet site, Dance Mat Typing.  It is stressed that students practice the home row and use all fingers to type at school and at home.

During the cycle, students will create Databases.  They will create tables, query the database for information, and create a report using the data from their database.

Students will also create and manipulate spreadsheets.  They will create tables and use formulas to do calculations within their table.  Charts and graphs will be created from the spreadsheet.

Students will create a PowerPoint presentation on a topic related to computers.  They will present this to the class.

No homework is given to students. On occasion students will be asked to bring in information that they will use in class. All work is done in the computer lab.
